Day 15: Young Autistic man still chained to hospital bed in Australia

There's much talk in Northern Ireland amongst parents about all of us being on the same "journey" with our children and how we should work together for all of our children's benefit.

It's not true
1. None of us are on a "similar" journey just because our kids have autism.
2.  It's pretty near impossible for parents to work together regarding autism in Northern Ireland. It hasn't happened so far and I don't expect it ever will. The reasons are numerous and mostly have to do with ego, money and intransigence.

The best things we ever do are things we do for others. If we can't work together for ourselves, maybe we could take a few moments to do something for someone else who really needs our help - like James Pascoe. Pray your child's "journey" is never like his.

21 year old Australian man James Pascoe who has autism, has been chained like an animal, to a hospital bed in Australia for 15 days. Just a few days ago, still chained, he turned 21.

Please sign the petition here Change.org to demand he receives appropriate care and be freed. James is currently tied to a bed with six shackles including one across his stomach.

James suffers from extreme anxiety. He also felt immense grief after the death of his Grandmother recently. Subsequent attempts on his part to express his feelings were taken as threats  and just like Alex Spourdalakis, the American teenager who was also shackled to a hospital bed (and who was later murdered by his own mother in June 2013)   James is being forced to suffer intolerable inhumane abuse at the hands of medical staff who clearly haven't a clue how to communicate or understand someone like James.
